Medical fund for Tillie’s care: http://www.youcaring.com/medical-fundraiser/medical-fund-for-our-367-foster-dogs-tillie-/133683Results from Tillie’s vet visit:
The Issues:
*Tillie has suffered a broken sternum sometime in her past.
*She has stage 3 Heartworm
*Cyst on her eye that needs to be removed
*Two mammary lumps which need to be surgically removed (size of BB’s)
*Fracture to her right front canine tooth that needs to be removed
*Broken tail
*Severe arthritis in her front legs
*8 other lumps/bumps
Today: *Four of her most concerning lumps were aspirated. Dr. Lester will call with results today or tomorrow. * Her blood and urine look good, other than a protein leak in her kidneys *We have decided not to test her for Babesia. She may have it, but is not presenting with clinical signs. Will test her after her heartworm treatment is complete. *She will need monthly injections of adapuon glucosamine to manage and slow the progression of her arthritis *She will take 500mgs of Glucosamine orally each day
In the coming weeks: *Eco cardiogram to confirm that she is healthy enough for heartworm treatment *She will start a very conservative 100 day heartworm treatment. *Upon successful completion of the heartworm treatment she will need surgery to remove the mammary masses, broken canine tooth and, eye cyst and any other masses.
Breakdown of her Conservative Heartworm Treatment: Day 1 – Administer HW Peventative (24 hour observation) Day 1-28 – Doxycycline Day 30 – Administer HW Preventative (24 hour observation) Day 60 – Admininster HW Preventative and first melarsomine injection. Inpatient at OSVS. Cage rest, low activity Day 90 – Adiminister HW Preventative and Second melarsomine injection Day 91 – Thrid melarsomine injection and prednisone. Continue exercise restrictin for 6-8 weeks Day 120 – test, if positive, treat in four weeks Day 271 – Antigen test 6 months after completion.
If all goes well with the heartworm treatment (which it will) then we will schedule the surgery.
Then, Miss Tillie will be a happy and healthy girl! She will need lifetime pain management, but given what she has been through she will feel better than she has felt in years.
Thank you for being part of Team Tillie!

Tillie, Delores, Famous Amos and Pony Show Girl have been released from the HSUS Temporary Shelter and are now in our care. They have been spayed and neutered and we don’t expect the three younger ones to need much more than exams, boosters and preventative care. Then there’s Tillie. Her heartworm treatment has been sponsored, but we want to be sure we have a good plan in place and can give her the best physical therapy, medicine, supplements, food and pain management money can buy.
As you know, back in the fall 367+ dogs were seized in the second largest dogfighting raid in US history; spanning several states and after years of hard work, the HSUS, ASPCA, FBI and local law enforcement agencies undertook the massive raid. – See more at: http://www.youcaring.com/medical-fundraiser/medical-fund-for-our-367-foster-dogs-tillie-/133683#sthash.t23p9KXD.dpuf
