It’s so easy to prevent heartworm, and yet so many dogs have heartworm.

The heartworm parasite is a small worm that is very dangerous, and if left untreated, deadly for dogs and even cats.

Heartworms are transmitted through the bite of an infected mosquito. Once inside the new host (that would be your dog!), the heartworms mature and grow. They begin to impact the heart, lungs and other major arteries, which can cause organ failure and eventually, death. Heartworms can grow to be up to a foot long.

Kabang is saying goodbye to America and heading back to her home in the Philippines. She has undergone extensive oral surgery so she will be able to live a normal life.

Kabang is said to be a hero dog for good reason. She is going to be saying goodbye to America and head back to her home in the Philippines.

The sweet and brave female canine gained acclaim across the world after she threw herself in front of a moving motorcycle to save her owner’s daughter and niece from getting hit.Tragically Kabang lost her snout and upper jaw. After the accident, she arrived in the United States to receive the medical attention.

On top of losing a portion of her face, the dog has also battled cancer and bouts with heartworm. Kabang has now undergone extensive oral surgery to correct her jaw so she will be able to live a normal life.

Her upper teeth were removed while one eyelid along with her nasal openings were reconstructed.

Skin flaps were used to close the wound. The chief of dentistry at the hospital stated “She is still not a pretty dog, but she is a happy dog.”
