Here are baby heartworms, called microfilaria, filmed through a microscope. This pet has adult heartworms living in its heart and the baby worms are living in the bloodstream. A blood sample was taken from the pet, a drop of blood was placed under a microscope, and then viewed. The pet’s blood was also tested to confirm a positive heartworm infection.
